Update 3rd May 2012 - Plans for the Rock Circus are progressing steadily. The first rock block has been chosen from Wickwar Quarry. It is the 300 million year-old Carboniferous limestone and shows beautiful coral fossils. The corals were surviving happily in tropical waters at
Wickwar when what is now Britain was just south of the equator. No dinosaurs or mammals had yet evolved. You can see this block in the Photo Gallery on the Rock Circus website http://www.boxrockcircus.org.uk |
