Annual Parish Meeting - 2012

Burial
Committee
Alan Clench

Chairman

During the past twelve months several major activities have been completed. These include the following individual items.

Firstly the painting of the outside of the Lodge was completed shortly after the last Parish meeting. This was followed by a survey of the lodge which revealed the need to renew the chemical damp course. This has now been commissioned and will be completed this summer.

A new storage shed has been purchased and installed. We anticipate a minimum period of ten years use from this.

C.C.T.V.has been installed on the chapel roof following an attempt to remove some stone tiles.

In a drive to further clean up the cemetery, spoil that had been dumped along the beech hedge ,has been moved.  This was spread over the back field.  Additionally the area known as "The Secret Garden" has been cleared. Both of these jobs have been completed by working with the Community Payback team.

The back field continues to be rented out to a local farmer.

Other jobs completed include the painting of the main gates and railings by the parish staff, plus painting of the chapel guttering and downpipes by a contractor.  New posts and fittings were also fitted to the five-barred gate by the lodge.

Saving for chapel roof repairs continues into 2012/13.

This is only one area of foreseeable major expenditure. Over the next few years we will need to finance work on the gates, the boundary wall, the lodge and its out-buildings, all of which are Grade 2 Listed.

We have more choice regarding other work to the cemetery but delay will always cause increased costs.

My thanks go to my colleagues for their support and to Sean Kissling, the cemetery caretaker and Mrs. Carey for her guidance and expertise
